Original Spread: Climbing the Mountain

I created this spread during a time when I was doing a lot of backpacking in our local mountains! I wanted a spread that was used mainly
for self-discovery, something that could be used for both mundane and spiritual questions. The spread is comprehensive, and delves
into feelings and motivations, describing many aspects of an issue. It also shows doubts and fears, known and unknown obstacles. The lay-out follows
a course that is common to hiking trails - longer at the lower elevations, and gaining rapidly as it ascends. Not all paths to mountain peaks
travel such courses, nor do all paths to finding the truth, however I find it works.
Uses 13 cards
The first level of the spread is mainly concerned with the Querent's feelings,
thoughts, and expectations. The second level of the spread deals with doubts or fears,
obstacles both known and unknown, and a suggestion for moving ahead. In the third level
awareness and realization are shown. And, in the final card we have come to the truth.
Card One: represents the Self, the Querent, innocence, motivations, sincere goals.
Card Two: shows the Querent's expectations and desires, what they are hoping for.
Card Three: describes the Querent's first impressions or ideas on the matter.
Card Four: shows the Querent's overall feelings or emotions.
Card Five: suggests what the Querent may wish to do to go further.
Card Six: any fears and doubts about the issue are shown in Card Six.
Card Seven: shows known obstacles or limitations that the Querent must face.
Card Eight: shows what is still unseen or unknown about the situation.
Card Nine: what the Querent needs to be aware of before moving forward.
Card Ten: shows the Querent's perception of the truth.
Card Eleven: what exhilerates or excites the Querent about the issue.
Card Twelve: the last step before reaching the truth, what the Querent should do or focus on.
Card Thirteen: is the ultimate truth!
