Original Spread: Helping Hand

Helping Hand Original Spread I often feel frustrated that I'm not doing more, to help others, to make a difference, and to create positive change in our society. I think many people feel similarly. Although there are so many ways we can make a difference on a daily basis (staying informed, making socially responsible decisions, writing to our representatives about important issues, speaking out, helping others, volunteering, etc.), I feel we each have a certain way we can contribute most effectively. Which are the best ways for each of us? Hopefully this spread will help you discover yours.

Uses 6 cards

Card One: What can I most effectively offer of myself right now? An alternate question for this card might be, How might I help improve the lives of others? Bear in mind this card might point to something mundane, like parenting.
Card Two: How do others see me, what impression do they have of me? This is useful because it might bring to light a certain impression we are giving to others. For example, if we want to be a nurturer, and the Queen of Swords shows up here, we might need to warm up around others. The card might point out that we need to reassess our goals, or it could give us more encouragement.
Card Three: What action could I take right now? This might not appear concrete - but go with it. The process has to begin somewhere.
Card Four: What challenges will I likely face in the near future? The only card that doesn't focus specifically on the present; it is used to prepare you for the road ahead.
Card Five: What do I need to give myself, in order to be most helpful to others? We've all heard the saying that we can't truly love others until we love ourselves first ...
Card Six: What is the source of my strength? The first time I tried this spread I drew the Nine of Swords here. This card reflects a feeling of deep sorrow I have for the suffering in the world, and in this position it clarifies my need to work for change. The card that shows up here might surprise you, as it did me.
